Vice-Chair Champions for Change
Champions for Change, a strategy of Global Women, is a collective of leaders, who connect, learn and lead change for working communities and cultures in Aotearoa New Zealand.
80+ of the nation’s top executives (CEOs and Chairs), representative of 60 of Aotearoa New Zealand’s private and public sector organisations and a combined workforce of more than 170,000 employees.
As a collective they come together to shine light, building awareness and knowledge, and take action, creating accountability and impact, led by a Governance Group.
“Mā mua ka kite a muri, mā muri ka ora a mua.”
Those who lead give sight to those who follow, those who follow give life to those who lead.
As Champions for Change, we are committed to achieving excellence in four drivers of inclusive and diverse workplaces. These are the foundations for our individual action, and collective group impact.
Champions commit to addressing any level of gender pay gaps within their organisations.
40% Women, 40% Men, 20% Gender diverse – Champions commit to striving towards this gold-standard ratio for gender balance within their organisations.
What we can measure, we can change – that’s why ethnic pay gap reporting is essential for an intersectional approach to addressing workplace inequality.
Developed by Champions, the Parental Leave Framework outlines a minimum standard for parental leave policy for Champion organisations, as well as a pathway for developing their policy into something truly progressive.
Champions for Change is Co-Chaired by two elected Champions – Carrie Hurihanganui, CEO Auckland Airport, and Roger Gray, CEO Port of Auckland.
Global Women works at multiple tiers throughout each partner organisation to deliver on the initiatives outlined by the Champions, as well as supporting the broader diversity agenda within organisations.
Together the Champions have formulated a programme of work centred on four focus areas: Increasing Gender Diversity, Increasing Māori and Ethnic Diversity, Leading Inclusive Cultures and Influencing the Outside World.
